Kevin Francis[]
Kevin Derek Michael Francis (born December 6, 1967 in Birmingham) was a man mountain of a striker regarded as one of Stockport County’s greatest players of all-time.
At six foot seven and a bit, marking Kevin was a bit like trying to rule a large country like China. Defenders struggled to contain the vast striker during his time at Stockport when he netted over 100 goals and earned a chance at hometown team Birmingham City.
Sadly this was during the Barry Fry era when the eccentric manager had bought nearly 15,000 players for his first-team squad. Francis couldn’t quite repeat the success he enjoyed at Edgeley Park and his career slowly fizzled out.
Career after football[]
After retirement, Francis became a police officer in Calgary, Canada.
"I never would have done this in the UK, but they give you a gun out here so it's a bit different!” the enormous man enthused worryingly. "No one would believe that I'd end up doing this. I don't think many of them believe it now."
It is still not known how he got through the interview process.
Saint-Kitts and Nevis[]
Despite being born in England, Kevin played for Saint Kitts and Nevis at international level. It was the same kind of thing as Christopher Birchall representing Trinidad and Tobago or Mick McCarthy choosing to play for the Republic of Ireland – countries they couldn’t accurately put on a map.
